I love being outside talking to God. My inspiration to write happens when I’m alone outside. It feels as if there is no limit to time or space.
I admit, I do have a favorite spot though. I love sitting on the wooden swing underneath this big tree. It has so many branches and millions of leaves. The trunk is not very wide but it's strong and when the leaves bloom, it stands tall and full against the backdrop of the open field.
After reading my Bible, I lean back, close my eyes and begin worshipping God. It’s all about him at this time. That’s when I hear the sound. The gentle wind blowing against the leaves, wrestling them against one another. The sound of the wind increases as it becomes more powerful and then it’s as if I’m taken to another dimension. All my cares and worries are washed away. Peace covers me like a blanket and I fell like I've become one with God, just Him and I there by ourselves.
The wind becomes a gentle whisper from God, bringing to remembrance the scripture I just read, a memory of the past and the lesson he taught me during that season.
It’s so profound because every detail of that moment comes flooding back but most of all, the scriptures come alive. My mind begins downloading all that he is teaching me that I can’t retain it all. I try to write and share all that He shows me but not all gets printed. Some are my very own secret treasures, just between God and I.
God has become my best friend, my confidant, my author, my teacher but most of all my God and father. So I say, if you’re struggling to hear from God, just sit back and listen. Be still. Drown out the noise and cares of the world and just listen. He is ready to talk to you. He is waiting for you…. JustFood4Thought
