Many great things happen during this time of singleness, IF you allow God to take control. I'm also walking this path of singleness again but GOD has been faithful in showing his mercy and love time and time again.
"and when the LORD your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy."
Delivered : to save, rescue, or set free from.
"GOD has delivered them over to you" Is another powerful sentence of God showing what He has already done at the cross. Each struggle, each bondage, each cord that is holding you to the past or destructive lifestyle, you already have been delivered from.
When the first season of singleness began years ago, I used to be a alcoholic and drug user. I tried numerous times to stop on my own but failed each time. It wasn't until that one night when I finally cried out and gave it to God. By then, I knew only He could do it. That night He delivered me without any withdrawal!
"you have defeated them" I want you to get this into your spirit. Jesus already covered and defeated everything with His blood on the cross. There is nothing, and I mean nothing that you cannot defeat or overcome. That broken relationship- covered and destroyed. That person who hurt you- covered and destroyed. That failed marriage- covered and destroyed.
Believe me when i say this, "Everything that has happened in your life, is not wasted." Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Utilize this season to allow GOD to walk you into your calling.
"then you must destroy them totally." Here is the key. Once God has forgiven, destroyed and delivered you from something or someone, YOU MUST NEVER PICK IT UP AGAIN. Don't look back. Let it go. That smooth talking ex-boyfriend- let it go. The friends who party all night- let it go. The family members who will draw you back into the old- Let them go. Change your number, find a new crowd to hang around with. Make new friends. Trust GOD in what He is doing.
"Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy." During this walk, there will be times when you will feel vulnerable and tempted. It is as if in that moment of time, the enemy can sense it. He will entice you with thoughts, desires or emotions but you must be quick to realize the tactics being used. I don't care if you scream, yell or cry but stand on the word of GOD and defeat that moment! Remember, you already won! You got this.
Joshua is one of my favorite people In the bible. If GOD said to do it, he did it without questioning. He knew GOD was on his side and that with GOD on his side, he could do ANYTHING and overcome ANYTHING! He was obedient and trusted GOD and GOD went before Him and delivered him in battle. His enemies didn't have a chance against the mighty men of GOD. He was the least intimidated person in the bible. However, there was a battle lost because of sin. Joshua lost men in that battle. But here in another example of grace shown. Once he dealt with that sin, GOD delivered his enemy into their hands AGAIN.
That is the perspective we need to have as we walk through this season. We all are called to be mighty men and women of GOD. We are strong, not perfect. It is a season of learning, gleaning and being built up to what GOD has called you for. You will fail at times but allow GODs mercy and grace to pick you back up.
